BOINC Pentathlon 2013

An annual event sponsored by SETI.Germany where all BOINC-Teams are invited to participate. This competition is inspired by the Pentathlon of the ancient world. Just like in ancient Greece teams perform this BOINC Pentathlon by running 5 different disciplines. This means within 2 weeks the participants will need to crunch 5 different projects, each for 5 days.

As announced, SIMAP is marathon discipline in the BOINC Pentathlon organized by seti-germany.de.

Many users had pre-calculated lots of results and are submitting them since the start of the pentathlon this morning. This causes a high load on the upload/download server, due to the limits in network and storage bandwidth. However, the whole system is functioning normally and generates continuously new workunits. We expect that the load will reduce soon, however it will remain at a substantial level during the Pentathlon until May 19.

cheers

Sorry gang but I'm pulling the machines I had running SIMAP off the project. I've been out of town for a few days and came home to some crunchers with hundreds of stuck uploads and downloads and no tasks being crunched. I don't have time to babysit so I'm moving on to get ready for CEP2 and E@H. In my experience with this project in the past I had download/upload issues when there was no contests going on so the mass of bunkered WUs from some of the other teams just exacerbates the issue for me. Hope y'all understand.

I kow your pain... I noticed the same thing. Had to increase my cache to 2dys, we'll see if that helps.

Understandable. No worries. I noticed some get stuck but they've eventually been uploading for me.

After 36 hours, the server load on SIMAP is finally easing up. . . mainly because the focus will be on CEP2 for a while.

He'll be back. He let me know that he'll be supporting BOINCstats for the Pentathlon.

OK, I'm selecting CEP2. For some reason, every 3 or 4 days or so one or two of these error out and I get the ubiquitous "exit code 195 (0xc3)". Then everything's cool for 3 or 4 more days and then the same thing. Many crunchers have commented on error code 195 in the forums, but no solution. Anyway, I'm almost up to 1 year for CEP2. Have my PC set for a max of two of these at a time.

I really dislike that they chose CEP2 for the Pentathlon. I had gotten to 2 years and stopped crunching it due to problems.
