The Milestone Thread! I can't keep up - now 10,000,000!

Folding@home (FAH or F@h) is a distributed computing project for disease research that simulates protein folding, computational drug design, and other types of molecular dynamics. Its primary purpose is to determine the mechanisms of protein folding, which is the process by which proteins reach their final three-dimensional structure, and to examine the causes of protein misfolding.
What is protein folding?
Proteins are biology's workhorses- its "nanomachines." Proteins help your body break down food into energy, regulate your moods, and fight disease. Before proteins can carry out these important functions, they assemble themselves, or "fold." While protein folding is critical and fundamental to virtually all of biology much of the process remains a mystery.

When proteins do not fold correctly (misfolding), there can be serious health consequences, including many well known diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, AIDS, Huntington's, Parkinson's disease, and many cancers.

If we better understand protein misfolding we can design drugs and therapies to combat these illnesses.

The Milestone Thread! I can't keep up - now 10,000,000!

You know how this works. The team hit a milestone? You hit a milestone? Want to congratulate somebody else? This seems like a good spot. And remember, milestones are what you make them. Points, number of units, ranking, fastest you've ever done [fill in the blank]. Celebrate!

We can also try to use this thread as a historical reference. I think it will be interesting to look back and think, "Wow, back in 2013 it took us over a week to gain 1,000,000 points." And who knows, maybe we'll be saying, "Wow, back in July it took us over a week to gain 1,000,000 points." :D Feel free to do the same for your personal stats.

And remember, you can find team and individual certificates here.

--Milestones--
1,000,000 Points - June 20, 2013
2,000,000 Points - June 28, 2013
3,000,000 Points - July 04, 2013
4,000,000 Points - July 12, 2013
5,000,000 Points - July 18, 2013
6,000,000 Points - July 24, 2013
7,000,000 Points - August 03, 2013
8,000,000 Points - August 10, 2013
9,000,000 Points - August 15, 2013
10,000,000 Points - August 19, 2013

Here's a great way to christen the thread. Great work, everybody!

Wow, I'm really on the ball. (Not!) I just updated the original post with our 7 Million milestone, and yesterday we hit 7.5 Million.

Also worth celebrating, we completed our first 1,000 work units! (And following the theme of my tardiness, we're already 10% of the way to our next 1,000. :icon_redface: ) Great folding, all! Our work is adding up!

The points and milestones are rolling along, I can't keep up with it all! :icon_cool: We crossed the threshold of 10,000,000 points. That's some serious folding. We have four members with over 1.5 Million points each, so we're not a one person show. We've really accomplished a lot in a short time, and I think we'll only get stronger as time passes. Both here, and in our other endeavors.
