Active Projects

Welcome to the home of Team Christians. If you have just registered on the board, you MUST post an introduction to gain access to the rest of the forums (it helps to weed out fake registrations). There may already be a welcome thread started for you. Just reply to it and tell us a little about yourself. NOTE: You don't have to be a member of the team in order to post here. All are welcome! Thanks!

Active Projects

Postby pandelta » Sat Aug 30, 2014 9:59 am

I was thinking it might be a good idea to add an active projects and resources list to the Welcome section in our Forum. Obviously an admin will need to do this, but I thought I would start a thread and post some links and anyone can add on. I'm sure a lot of you have additional resources that would be great to share, especially with the new members! Big thanks to Col323 for giving me a lot of these links (I can't get enough numbers)!!!

Overall BOINC centered projects list (if you click on the score it will take you to a team view for the project). This is useful to give you an idea of what projects you can pick from and where we are all crunching at or even where you might want to start one:

World Community Grid - our main project and largest group of members, typically has 90+ active

Not so well known projects:
WUProp@Home - is essentially a stats tracker, it does not use resources on your machine, it merely collects data for how long other projects take to complete on your hardware and adds it to the below public database. I have used it many times to compare stats on my hardware to others, highly recommend it!

Public Database (even works to compare phones and other ARM devices):

Stats Tracker:

Non-BOINC projects (I only know of this one, anyone else have any to add?):
Folding@Home - is a great multiple SMP CPU and GPU project that's is helping to find cures for cancer, Alzheimer's, Huntington's and Parkinson's diseases.
Expected GPU points: HD 7850/R9 270/270X = 90,000/day. HD 7970/R9 280X = 125,000/day. Must use latest drivers for these points!

If you look on our forum Col323 has a great guide and tips to help you get running on F@H.

Hardware related resources:
CPU/GPU Benchmark database of over 200,000 processors (including GPUs, phones and other ARM devices):
Can be used to compare the relative power of your hardware to others.

This is a good idea. Thanks, pandelta!

I've moved this to the Welcome section per your request and have stickied it.

Great idea for a thread! And great execution of the great idea. :D

I found another CPU comparison link today while trying to compare a couple server CPUs which I could not find in the Anandtech or Tom's Hardware links. http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/CPU.html You can drill down to a specific CPU or just enter whatever info you know to search. Once you've pulled up a first CPU, click the "Compare 2 CPUs" link on the right, and you can enter a second one. For instance, here's a comparison of my first cruncher to the CPU in the laptop I'm posting this with. Apparently, CPUs made in the last century don't hold their own very well , but I still think the core name of "Chompers" sounds like a better cruncher than "Sandy Bridge". :) I could waste a lot of time on that site.

Found a couple more stats tracking sites on the Boinc Wiki site.

This one has lots of links and useful information. I still like free-dc best but this is good too. This is a link to our team listing:
http://www.allprojectstats.com/top.php? ... teamid=112

Here is another link from the same site. It shows Christians being 90th overall for ALL boinc projects combined.
http://www.allprojectstats.com/top.php? ... sc=y&hl=90

This one lets you search your username and see a report for all of your projects at once. Has lots of graphs breaking down all of your projects. Couldn't find a team listing.

Cool! I've used the allprojectstats.com site, but not the other one. Thanks for posting!
