possible government shutdown

Postby littlepeaks » Sun Sep 22, 2013 1:52 pm

Thought I'd start a thread on the possible government shutdown, as most of you are probably interested in this topic.

Today, I googled the history of govt shutdowns, and came up with this:

Dates / President
September 30 to October 11, 1976 (10 days) Gerald Ford
September 30 to October 13, 1977 (12 days) Jimmy Carter
October 31 to November 9, 1977 (8 days) Jimmy Carter
November 30 to December 9, 1977 (8 days) Jimmy Carter
September 30 to October 18, 1978 (18 days Jimmy Carter
September 30 to October 12, 1979 (11 days) Jimmy Carter
November 20 to November 23, 1981 (2 days) Ronald Reagan
September 30 to October 2, 1982 (1 day) Ronald Reagan
December 17 to December 21, 1982 (3 days) Ronald Reagan
November 10 to November 14, 1983 (3 days) Ronald Reagan
September 30 to October 3, 1984 (2 days) Ronald Reagan
October 3 to October 5, 1984 (1 day) Ronald Reagan
October 16 to October 18, 1986 (1 day) Ronald Reagan
December 18 to December 20, 1987 (1 day) Ronald Reagan
    October 5 to October 9, 1990 (3 days) George H.W. Bush
November 13 to November 19, 1995 (5 days) Bill Clinton
    December 5, 1995 to January 6, 1996 (21 days) Bill Clinton

Hope I didn't make any mistakes, as I had to connect the dates with the presidential terms.
Haven't seen much in the media about these govt shutdowns -- just dissing of the Republicans and Senator Cruz.

I hope the conservatives(whoever they may be) have grown a spine and refuse to cave in this time. The progressive/socialists in charge need to be held accountable for their agenda that is bankrupting this country. If they win we all lose.
